Living Well: Understanding the Science of Longevity & Healthspan

You've been told what "normal" looks like.

But normal was never meant to be the ceiling.

Most people don't find out something's wrong until it already is. You get to write a different story.

The Vision

I've spent more than 25 years chasing one question: what does it actually take to live well — not just longer, but better?

That search took me through Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Pathology at UCLA, and it's shaped a research career centered on metabolic disease and the biology of aging, including NIH-funded clinical trials.

Today, I'm a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the USC Keck School of Medicine and the USC Davis School of Gerontology. I've been named a Top Doctor by Los Angeles Magazine and a Best Doctor in America by my peers — but honestly, the credential I care about most is simpler: making sure every patient in front of me feels heard, understood, and genuinely cared for.

The tools I use every day — screening, biomarkers, precision data — only matter if they turn into decisions that actually protect your health. To me, healthspan was never an abstract idea. It's whether you can think clearly, move freely, and still feel like yourself at 60, 70, and beyond. That's the outcome I'm working toward with every person who walks into my office.

Medicine has a habit of waiting until something breaks. I'd rather walk beside you and help you stay ahead of it.

To learn more about how I think about care, you can read about my background and practice philosophy.
